The University trains specialists on the basis of an appropriate license in 20 areas and more than 40 specialties. There are three educational and scientific institutes in the university system - mathematics, economics and mechanics, innovation and postgraduate education, social sciences - and ten faculties (physical, chemical, geological and geographical, biological, philosophical, historical, philological, Romano-Germanic philology, economic and legal, journalism, advertising and publishing), fifty scientific institutes, research departments, problematic and branch laboratories.

May 13, 2015 Odessa National University named after I. I. Mechnikov solemnly celebrated the 150th anniversary of its founding.
