  • When cooking a sweet dish, add raisins, pieces of dried apricots and other dried fruits. You can also add chopped pumpkin, carrots or apples. It is better to add vegetables at the beginning of cooking, cutting them into small pieces, and apples at the end, rubbing them on a coarse grater.
  • If you grease the walls of the bowl with soft butter (not reaching a little to the top), the milk will certainly not “run away” during cooking.
  • This dish can be cooked in a multicooker, depending on its model, also in the Multicooker and Groats modes.
  • If you want to get a thicker consistency - add 100 milliliters less water or milk. If the porridge has already turned out to be too liquid, leave it in the multicooker in the heating mode with the lid open for 7-10 minutes.

Good recipes.

Until recently, corn porridge was not included in the conditional list of my preferred dishes. And all because the previous attempts to cook it did not end unsuccessfully, but they did not cause admiration from me and my family either. Corn porridge could burn or turn out to be a “lump”, in which undercooked small grains were present. But the bowl, of course, burned. And in general, as practice has shown, it is quite difficult to cook corn grits.

And then I remembered that I am the happy owner of a slow cooker, in which, as it is believed, cereals are obtained “with a bang”. I decided to cook corn porridge on the water in a slow cooker. I studied the information on this issue, gathered my strength and transgressed. I decided to cook corn porridge in a slow cooker not on the rice or cooking mode, but on almost the lowest temperature “stewing” mode. At the same time, it took a lot of time to cook corn porridge compared to cooking the same rice or buckwheat, but the result was pleasing. In an ordinary pan on the stove, I didn’t get such corn porridge. In a slow cooker, corn porridge cooked in water, in the “stewing” mode, managed to boil and steam out. It turned out delicious.

In some recipes for cooking corn porridge on water in a slow cooker, it is recommended to add butter at the very beginning of cooking. I added it at the end because I wasn't sure how much oil would be needed for the perfect taste and consistency. Butter easily interferes with hot corn porridge and gives the dish a velvety texture and a more delicate and mild taste. And its quantity is not small. In my case, 50 g of butter was used for a glass of corn grits.

Let me show and tell you how I cooked corn porridge on water in a slow cooker. In the near future I plan to cook such porridge, only liquid in milk. And I'll be sure to post the results :)
