Where to go to the beach in Riga and Jurmala: where to swim and sunbathe in the capital. Holidays in Jurmala in the summer: reviews

Not for nothing I gathered in Jurmala in August. After all, the weather this month pleases with sunny days and relative daytime warmth. Although the nights are already cold ... Yes, I managed to complete the maximum program. I managed to see and visit everything that I planned. And most importantly, I finally swam in the local sea!

Jurmala in August: warm, sunny but rainy

So yes, friends, even August is rainy here! But the precipitation during the holiday week took me by surprise only twice. Plus, the rains were not cold and short. Can't compare to May. Summer and spring weather are fundamentally different, of course. Upon arrival, the city met me with moderate heat (up to +22 degrees), slight wind and cloudiness. But the clouds dissipated by noon. The sun came out to replace them. I chose the right time to get acquainted with the historical part of the city. Not hot, and most importantly not cold. The sea by this month warms up to +19. I can’t call the water warm, but I forced myself to take a dip once. Water is great for invigorating! Evening in Jurmala is unusually late. The sun sets right after 21:00. The impenetrable night falls at 22:00. It's cool here in the evening. The temperature drops to +12.

Saturation with vacationers at the end of summer

Top season is here! Visitors, without exaggeration I will say, apparently, invisibly. Even the beaches are full of sunbathers. Finding a place in the evening in a cafe is problematic... People walk and rest! The price tag on everything went up. Renting accommodation upon arrival is unrealistic.

How to dress for an August trip

Weather features even in August do not allow you to come here only with things from your summer wardrobe. A jacket or pullover is a must. Approximate list of clothes:

  • swimsuit;
  • tennis shoes;
  • breeches;
  • dress;
  • sweaters;
  • jeans.

There is no need to take a headdress. The sun is barely warm.

In August it turned out to be much better than in May!

Jurmala is without a doubt the most advertised and famous resort in Latvia. Like all seaside towns that are popular with tourists, it has grown along the coast of the Gulf of Riga for as much as thirty-two kilometers.
