The principle of operation of a stationary gasifier

For filling cryogenic gasifier product, it is necessary to connect the stationary cryogenic gasifier of the Mining and Chemical Combine with a donor vessel using a metal hose or pipeline.

In the donor vessel, it is necessary to increase the pressure, and on the gasifier, open the gas vent and the refueling unit. In order to speed up the filling process and reduce losses, on gasifiers of the GCC of large volume, during overflow, two filling valves are provided: filling "up" and "down" and it is possible to use a centrifugal pump.

Control over the completion of filling the cold cryogenic gasifier is carried out using a level gauge (differential pressure gauge) and a visual control valve.

For dispensing a gaseous product from a stationary cryogenic gasifier, it is necessary to increase the pressure in the vessel. To do this, the pressure booster valve must be opened. The liquefied gas fills by gravity the pressure booster evaporator located at the bottom of the pressure vessel. In the pressure rise evaporator, the liquefied cryoproduct changes its state of aggregation and turns into a gas. The gas enters the gas "cushion" of the MCC gasifier and squeezes out the liquefied gas to the consumer and/or to the pressure rise line.

The MCC is provided with a pressure regulator(RD), which allows you to automatically maintain the operating pressure initially set by the operator. Pressure control is carried out by means of a manometer.

After dispensing liquefied gas into the consumption line, the cryoproduct enters the production evaporator, is converted into gas and is issued to the consumer. The whole system works autonomously and does not require electricity.

In case of exceeding the operating pressure in the MCC, safety devices are provided that protect the internal cryogenic vessel and all communications of the MCC gasifier.

The gasifier is an autonomous complex, structurally consisting of the following elements:

  1. inner vessel (welded, stainless steel sheet),
  2. casing,
  3. evaporator,
  4. piping,
  5. armature kit.

The vessel is thermally insulated using multilayer screen-vacuum insulation. The space between the vessel and the casing is evacuated. To deepen the vacuum on the inner vessel there is a pocket for filling the sorption material - zeolite.

The vessel is installed in a casing on fiberglass supports and is centered in the upper part of the tank. A membrane is installed on the lower bottom of the casing, which is triggered by excess pressure in the casing.

The gasifier has slinging devices for mounting and rigging. To limit the pressure in the vessel and product communications, safety valves are installed on the piping, which are adjusted at the beginning of the opening.

If it is necessary to reduce the allowable working pressure in the vessel, the safety valves are reconfigured to a pressure in the same range. The pressure booster evaporator is located under the gasifier and consists of profiled aluminum elements connected in series. The production evaporator is installed separately and consists of profiled aluminum elements.

With an increase in pressure in the gasifier above the working one by 0.05 MPa (0.5 kgf / cm 2), gas extraction from the pressure rise evaporator stops, while excess gas enters the consumer's line.

Cold cryogenic gasifier GCC 50/0.8 (subject to registration with Gosgortekhnadzor) is a complex unit consisting of a cryogenic vessel (CFL Y50/0.8) and a production evaporator for storing a cryogenic product and dispensing gaseous products of air separation under operating pressure . GCC 50 / 0.8-1000- has a working pressure of up to 8 bar, in contrast to the standard pressure of 16 bar, which allows for finer adjustment of the gas at the outlet, increased safety, saving materials, due to the thinner vessel wall. Most often, such an oxygen gasifier is used to supply oxygen gas to steelmaking furnaces. It is also often used as a storage of liquid air separation products (similar to BSH).
Cold cryogenic gasifier GCC 50/0.8 is often used as a medical gasifier. For a continuous supply of a gaseous product, two vessels are often installed and combined along the line for dispensing a liquid product into a production evaporator. The operating pressure in the hospital consumption line is no more than 4 bar, so the cryogenic vessel does its job perfectly.

Further in the text, we will analyze the main properties and advantages of a cryogenic gasifier over traditional methods of storage and use of air separation products in standard 40-liter cylinders.

Popularly, this type of equipment has different names: nitrogen gasifier, oxygen gasifier, medical gasifier, cryogenic gasifier - just variations of the names of the same equipment.

The main components of the gasifier:

  • Cryogenic vessel CFL-Y50/0.8 is an isothermal double-walled vessel with perlite-vacuum insulation. The vessel is designed for transportation, storage and dispensing of a liquid cryoproduct under a given pressure.
  • The pressure booster evaporator is an atmospheric heat exchanger of small capacity, designed to maintain a constant predetermined pressure in the vessel. The pressure in the vessel is equal to the pressure of the liquid cryoproduct delivered to the line of the production evaporator.
  • Production evaporator - an atmospheric heat exchanger designed to convert a liquid cryoproduct into a gaseous fraction due to natural heat exchange with the environment, and deliver it to the consumption line at a given pressure.   • Pressure regulator - This regulator has two purposes:

Vessel pressure regulation, economizer function. During the pressurization, the saturated vapor from the pressurization evaporator passes through the pressure regulator into the gas fraction of the inner vessel. Due to this operation, the gasifier can maintain the required pressure constantly. Excessive pressure in the gas fraction can be relieved through the regulator to prevent the safety valve from tripping and losing gas.

Reduction of excess pressure is carried out automatically, without operator intervention.

  • A set of pipelines is a set of all cryogenic and gas pipelines connecting the above units to each other.
  • Valves - a set of shut-off, control and safety valves, which, according to PB 03-576-03 (rules for the design and safe operation of pressure vessels), must be installed on all gasifier units.
  • A set of instrumentation - devices for monitoring pressure and liquid level in a vessel.

The cold cryogenic gasifier GCC 50/0.8-1000 is widely used in all branches of industry and science. A variety of their modifications makes it possible to use it in any production that consumes technical gases (oxygen, argon, nitrogen).

Advantages:

The purity of the resulting product: the inner vessel is made of stainless steel, which guarantees no chemical bonds between the material of the vessel and the working medium, this in turn guarantees an increased purity of the resulting gaseous product. This advantage has given gasifiers a wide range of applications in science, materials analysis, metal laser cutting, and other processes requiring higher gas purity.

Technological convenience: depending on the geometric volume, the oxygen gasifier GCC 50/0.8 is able to replace 6761 standard 40-liter cylinders. When operating the gasifier, there is no need to transport, unload and load bulky and dangerous cylinders. Achieved significant savings in transport costs. There are no operations for connecting and disconnecting cylinders in the gas train.

Space Saving: a cryogenic vessel that contains liquefied gas takes up about 10 times less space than standard 40-liter cylinders with an equivalent amount of gas. Liquefied gas, when evaporated, expands by about 650-700 times in volume. Even under the condition of strong compression (pressure in a 40-liter cylinder is 150 kgf/cm), which increases the danger, the gaseous product and its heavy steel shell take up a large amount of space.

Safety: The GCC 50/0.8 gasifier has a working pressure of up to 8 kgf/cm, when the working pressure of a standard cylinder is 200 kgf/cm. Due to its volume, the gasifier provides production continuously for a significant period of time, therefore, workers do not have constant and random access to it, which increases the overall safety of production.

Economic expediency: the cost of a liquid cryoproduct is approximately 40-50% lower than the cost of a gaseous product in standard cylinders. The manufacturer of the gaseous product does not bear the costs of gasification, filling, loading and storage of cylinders, which allows him to reduce the retail price for liquid air separation products. Depending on the configuration, gasifiers have a payback period of 6 months to several years.
