Interesting ideas from colored paper. Paper crafts for children

Paper is a universal raw material that is used in a wide variety of areas of human life. In the work of many people, they take this material as a basis. Both adults and children will be very interested to know what crafts can be made from paper.

Original paper products

It’s not at all difficult to make beautiful paper crafts at home. A fair number of all kinds of shapes require drawn diagrams according to which the product is assembled. Armed with a pencil and a ruler, anyone can create a craft using a template. All you have to do is draw a diagram, and you can easily create pieces of furniture or gift boxes, for example.

Each interesting idea has instructions on how to make a craft. It is important to note that the dotted lines of the diagram are fold lines.

Photos of paper crafts, as well as detailed instructions and descriptions of the necessary materials and tools can be found on the Internet. In our article we offer some options for crafts of different levels of complexity.

For the little ones

From a very young age, children begin to show interest in paper. We invite parents and their children to make a bright and beautiful bird. Your baby can use it to play or decorate the room.

Before you start working, you should prepare. You will need a bird template, cardboard, thin paper (square) and colored pencils or markers. Using this template you cut out the bird. Then draw the beak, feathers and tail.

Wings are made from a thin square sheet of paper. To do this, you need to fold it like an accordion and then secure it in the body of the bird in a previously prepared hole.

It is important to remember that the cutting process must take place under the strict supervision of an adult. And don’t forget to explain to your child that after work all tools should be put back in their places.

Decorate the bird by gluing ribbons, sparkles or rhinestones on it.

Three-dimensional paintings

All paper crafts can be simple or complex. Applique is considered one of the simplest techniques for making paper crafts. Children learn this type of creativity in the early stages of their education.

Work algorithm

  • Fold the napkin 4 times and fasten it with a stapler in the middle. Cut the corners to make a circle.
  • Form a flower by separating the layers of the circle.
  • Cut out a few green leaves.
  • Cut out the basket.
  • Glue all the parts onto a sheet of cardboard.

Please note that corrugated paper or foil can be used to make a basket.

Torn paper applique

Another way to applique without using scissors is to work with confetti or torn paper.

To work you must have:

  • glue;
  • torn paper (or confetti) of different colors;
  • cardboard for the base;
  • pencil.

Work algorithm:

  • We put an image on the cardboard.
  • Apply glue to the details of the image one by one.
  • Place pieces of paper or confetti on top of the glue.

If desired, the picture can be decorated with a frame made of any other materials, or inserted into a photo frame. Attach a loop on the back side, and you can hang such a children's masterpiece on the wall.

Weaving

There are a huge variety of ways to learn how to make paper crafts using the weaving technique. This is a very original approach to creating an exclusive piece.

The simplest technique in this technique is weaving strips in a checkerboard pattern. For those who are not looking for easy ways, working with paper tubes is suitable.

It is worth considering that the properties of the product will depend on the type of material you choose. You can work with:

  • plain paper;
  • newspaper;
  • tape for cash registers;
  • glossy magazines.

This way you will get a durable and high-quality product. Once the product is woven, you can decorate it as you wish. There are no restrictions here.

Origami

One of the most complex techniques for working with paper is called origami. Next, we offer a master class on paper crafts using this technique. As an example, we will make chicken.

To work on the product you will need a square piece of thin paper and pencils (black and red).

Algorithm for performing the work:

  • Bend the paper diagonally.
  • Expand.
  • Bend into two equal parts
  • Expand the left and right corners of the square.
  • Bend these corners in the middle so as to combine them and as a result get a pentagon.
  • Fold the top of the cone into the middle.
  • Bend the same cone in the opposite direction, but so that a small corner remains outside the sheet, which will become the beak.
  • Align the left and right edges of the product, but so that the beak is on the left side.
  • Fold the upper right corner into the middle of the product.
  • Bend the lower right corner, which consists of two sheets, outward. When making these movements, it is important to align the lower sides. Also at this time you need to move a small corner beyond the leftmost border. This is how the paws were made.
  • Turn a small corner tail onto the outside.
  • Lower the beak a little.
  • Draw the eyes with a black pencil.
  • Color in the beak with a red pencil.

The magic of origami surprises and intrigues children. Having mastered the technique yourself, you can teach your child to make new interesting toys.

If you show your imagination, you can make whatever you want out of paper. Your craft will be exclusive, first of all, because it is handmade. And it depends only on you how people will see it: color or black and white, flat or three-dimensional. In addition, we now have access to a choice of all kinds of raw materials for creativity and decoration.

Probably every mother has a paper craft from her beloved child in her folder or on her desk. Every March 8th or May 9th, a child brings a beautiful paper flower or a postcard with fireworks from kindergarten. In general, paper crafts are popular in preschools.

The site, for example, presents a wonderful idea for making a garland of cute doves. And making flowers from rings will not only create a warm and spring mood in the group, but will also develop fine motor skills, a sense of shape and the ability to combine. The combination of several materials is especially interesting. When they are put together, the pictures turn out to be original, voluminous and very interesting.

The goal of a competent teacher is not only to interest and attract the child to making paper crafts, he must provide support in the implementation of any paper idea. The child himself may not be able to cope with a task that is difficult for him, although he will gladly take on it.

Paper products using various techniques are created not only by children, but also by adults. Working with this material does not require special skills and abilities. At the same time, you can make a cute greeting card, an interesting toy, or a unique piece of furniture with your own hands.

DIY paper products are created using simple materials and tools, most of which can be found in any home.

Paper

The most popular types of paper raw materials are:

  • White or colored office paper- the main material for making paper crafts. It can be used to create applications, origami, and crafts using the quilling technique.
  • Corrugated, tissue paper and crepe paper Suitable for making delicate three-dimensional flowers, balls, and appliqués using the cutting technique.
  • Napkins used in cut appliqué, trimming, and decoupage.
  • Magazine and newspaper sheets used in creating collages, crafts using the iris folding and papier-mâché techniques.
  • Cardboard- a dense base and background for various paper products.

Masters of paper crafts also use various waste materials, paper ribbons, openwork napkins, sets of colored paper for children's creativity, leftover wallpaper, and whatman paper.

Glue

The correct choice of adhesive influences the final quality of the paper product.

To select an adhesive, the following factors should be considered:

  • texture and size of bonded surfaces;
  • purpose of the product;
  • age of the master.

The most popular adhesives are:

  • Glue stick, which is used for working with small parts. It is suitable for use by children of early preschool age, as its convenient packaging and consistency prevent heavy contamination of the work surface. The disadvantages of glue in the form of a pencil include fairly rapid drying, which makes adjustments to the craft impossible.

  • Starch (flour) paste- natural safe adhesive. It can easily be made at home by mixing 100 g of dry matter and 1 liter of water. Initially, they begin to heat the water over low heat, pouring about 100 g into a separate container. This liquid is used to prepare a thick, homogeneous solution, which is slowly added to boiling water and stirred thoroughly.

Important! The glue should not boil, so it must be stirred constantly, bringing it to a thick consistency.

The paste can be used in children's paper crafts, without the need to use a brush to apply it, in the making of papier mache and paper figurines.

  • PVA glue- universal glue, widely used in handicrafts. It reliably glues different types of paper together and with other materials. But at the same time, working with it requires care.

Scissors

A must-have tool for paper crafts is scissors. Beautiful paper crafts can be created with only 2 types, but paper craftsmen use many different cutting devices.

These include:

  • Long scissors with straight blades, the shape of the ends of which depends on the age of the master. For safety reasons, young children should use a tool with a rounded cutting part, the length of which is no more than 10-12 cm. Straight blades are suitable for cutting paper and cutting out large shapes.
  • Small scissors with sharp ends used to make small patterns on paper. They are especially in demand when creating piercings and three-dimensional pictures.
  • Scissors with curly blades(zigzag, wave) are designed to create decorative edges on paper parts.

  • Stationery knife used for cutting paper into strips or cutting out stencils. When using it, it is important to remember about safety precautions and the need to work on a solid base (wooden, plastic or glass board of a suitable size).
  • Figured hole punch quickly and easily makes a large number of identical decorative parts that are used to decorate paper products.

Additional items

In addition to basic materials and tools, additional elements are used in paper art to make your work easier and improve your results:

  • simple and colored pencils;
  • brushes;

  • pens;
  • paints;
  • rulers;
  • stencils;
  • decorative elements (toy eyes, buttons, sparkles, pieces of fabric, beads);
  • threads and needles.

Fish

Paper allows a child to develop creative skills, imagination and explore the world around him. With children 3-4 years old, you can make three-dimensional figures of fish, which are then placed in the general application “Aquarium”.

To create fish you will need the following materials:

  • double-sided colored paper;
  • scissors;
  • ruler;
  • a simple pencil;
  • glue.

There are several ways to make a paper inhabitant of reservoirs, but the simplest is the following:

  1. A rectangular sheet of paper is folded in half along the long side.
  2. A rounding is made at one end of the resulting part. The opposite edge is cut at an acute angle.
  3. Two cuts are made on the sharp side so that half of the part is divided into three equal parts. The workpiece is cut to the same length along the center fold line.
  4. The central strips are crossed and secured at the intersection with glue.
  5. In a similar way, the remaining symmetrical elements are fixed at the resulting central point.
  6. An eye is drawn on the concave part, and the tail is decorated with small dotted lines.

Using the technique described, you can make crafts of various sizes.

Kusudama balls

Volumetric crafts made using the modular origami technique are an original and popular detail in festive and everyday interiors. Beginning craftsmen should start making them with simple patterns.

Materials and tools:

  • 60 squares 7*7 cm of double-sided colored paper;
  • PVA glue.

The ball consists of 12 colors, each of which consists of 5 basic modules.

The manufacturing process consists of the following steps:

  1. The square blank is bent in half to form a triangle.
  2. The side sharp corners are connected to the top point to form a rhombus.
  3. The folded sides are folded to the middle. You should get a lily-shaped figure.
  4. The side petals open and smooth out.
  5. The tops of the side petals are bent to the working side along the edge line of the main part.
  6. The side elements are bent in half towards the working surface, returning the workpiece to a diamond shape.
  7. The triangles formed on the working side are covered with glue and connected to each other.
  8. In a similar way, 4 more petals are folded, which are connected to each other, forming a flower.

The procedure for forming the ball is as follows:

  1. Hemispheres are formed from 6 colors. To do this, 5 similar elements are attached to the central flower. Glue is applied to the middle part of each petal of the central element.
  2. While the workpieces are drying, a fastening is made from a thin ribbon and a large bead. The ends of the ribbon are threaded through the bead and secured with knots on both sides.
  3. The resulting loop is glued to the center line of one of the blanks.
  4. Then the second part of the ball is attached. For a more reliable connection, the workpiece is fixed with paper clips, which are removed after the craft has completely dried.

Flowers

DIY paper products are the most relevant children's gift for any holiday or celebration. Among paper crafts, flowers occupy a special place, which can be made as an independent product or as a decorative element for decoration.

Option 1: crocuses

For a bouquet of 3 flowers you will need the following tools and materials:

  • corrugated paper in white, yellow and green;
  • cotton wool;
  • glue;
  • wooden skewers:
  • semolina;
  • thin wire.

Progress:

  1. 15 strips measuring 20*4 cm are cut from white paper. The long side of the parts should be parallel to the corrugation.
  2. Each strip in the middle is twisted twice and the blanks are given a convex shape, carefully stretching the upper part of the petal.
  3. The inner part is cut 0.5 cm on both sides, and the outer part at the bottom is folded 0.5 cm towards the center.
  4. A yellow square 3*4 cm is cut into fringe 2 mm wide and 25 mm high. Important! The fringe is cut along the corrugations.
  5. Each strip curls into a stamen.
  6. The workpiece is wrapped around the tip of a wooden skewer coated with glue.
  7. The stamens are smeared with glue and dipped in semolina.
  8. Around the stem with stamens, 5 petals are sequentially secured, securing each of them with wire.
  9. The base of the flower is coated with glue, onto which a thin green stripe is fixed.
  10. Long sharp leaves are cut out from rectangles measuring 10*1.5 cm, the ends of which are curled.
  11. The finished leaves are fixed on the stems. Its lower part is once again wrapped in a strip of paper.

Option 2: rose

Rose is one of the favorite flowers among paper crafters. It can be performed using various techniques. The simplest option is to twist a bud from a paper spiral.

To make it you will need:

  • colored office paper;
  • scissors;
  • glue;
  • thin wire in a green winding;
  • large beads;
  • toothpick.

Progress:

  1. Colored paper is cut into circles with a diameter of 10 cm.
  2. Using a simple pencil, draw a spiral.
  3. The workpiece is cut along the resulting line. In your work, you can use scissors with both straight and wavy blades.
  4. The tip of the toothpick is carefully split. The outer end of the workpiece is inserted into it and a paper spiral is twisted into a bud.
  5. Glue is dripped onto the central part and the twisted part is secured to it.
  6. A bead is fixed in the center of each bud. For this, durable synthetic glue is used.
  7. The wire is cut into pieces 20 cm long and a loop is made at one end, bending it to a horizontal position.
  8. The base of the flower is covered with strong glue and attached to the bud.
  9. The craft is dried in a vertical position, placing it upside down.

Ready-made flowers can be collected into a bouquet, tied with a bright ribbon or packaged in beautiful paper.

DIY paper products: Christmas tree made of corrugated paper

In addition to basic materials, you will need the following items:

  • scissors;
  • glue;
  • thin cardboard cylinder;
  • gouache.

Progress:

  1. Rolls 3 to 5 cm wide are cut from a roll of corrugated paper.
  2. Without unwinding the rolls, use sharp scissors to make several cuts, creating a fringe 0.5 cm wide.
  3. Each strip of fringe is twisted by hand into a thin needle.
  4. The wire is cut into pieces, each of which is folded into a loop.
  5. The paper tape is fixed on a wire frame and wound in a spiral, fixing it at several points with glue.
  6. In a similar way, the required number of branches is made. Their number depends on the size of the base and the desired fluffiness of the green beauty.
  7. The cardboard cylinder is painted green.
  8. The branches are secured to a cardboard base using wire.
  9. The finished Christmas tree is decorated with paper ribbon bows and beads, which are glued with strong glue.

Crown

A paper product can be not only a beautiful interior detail, but also a stylish accessory.

The crown for the New Year's costume can be made using the quilling technique. To create it you will need strips of white and silver paper 0.5 cm wide, glue and a quilling tool.

To make a beautiful openwork crown, you need to prepare the following details:

  • tight roll;
  • free spiral:
  • a drop;
  • eye.

From the free spirals, assemble a round base with a diameter equal to the circumference of the child’s head. The height of the rim is equal to 2-3 rows of parts. The elements of each row are staggered relative to each other.

While the rim is drying, snowflakes are collected, which make up the main part of the crown. The element consists of a tight roll, around which there are 6 rays in the form of eye details. There are tight rolls between the beams.

The required number of identical elements can be made according to a pre-drawn diagram. The second prefabricated element of the crown - the peak - consists of two free spirals and an eye placed between them.

DIY paper products: crown using quilling technique

Having completed the required number of blanks, they begin to assemble the product. To assemble one segment, it is necessary to glue two drops between the two elements of the third row of the rim, arranging them in the form of the letter V. Glue a snowflake above them, which is crowned with a peak.

The required number of identical ones is placed along the diameter of the base. At the junction of the segments, two eyes are glued, placing them on both sides of the point of contact. The finished crown is coated with glitter varnish. It is secured on the head with small invisible ones.

Rocking duckling

A funny toy in the shape of a duckling can be made by children 3-4 years old.

Paper baskets

Compact, beautiful baskets are a great choice for keeping things organized. They are suitable for storing various small items. But it is worth remembering that such accessories have significantly lower strength and moisture resistance than traditional products, although the appearance may be almost identical.

To weave baskets, use paper twine or hand-made ropes. On the Internet you can find detailed master classes for any of the manufacturing techniques. All of them require only desire and free time.
