Calculation of metal for the fence. Calculation and installation of a fence made of corrugated sheets

Svetlana
Georgievna

I was choosing between a fence made of corrugated board and a fence made of wood. I chose painted corrugated board because, after consulting with managers, I realized that a wooden fence requires much more care and will end up being more expensive - since the wood needs to be treated with special compounds or repainted at least once every 2 years. My husband and I calculated that each such repainting will not cost 8,000 rubles only in terms of materials, without taking into account the cost of work. Corrugated sheeting is more profitable.

I chose a metal fence for its ease and speed of installation. We have a difficult area. A surveyor came from the Proma Holding company and made all the necessary calculations. I got a decent spread in the length of the sheet - from 2 to 4 meters! It’s very good that the company has its own production of corrugated sheets; they cut sheets for me specifically to my dimensions. In general, I am very grateful to all the employees of this enterprise and personally to the manager Igor.

Thank you for your work! Our site is located in the Volokolamsk district of the Moscow region. I ordered the installation of a chain-link fence. I installed a 40 meter long fence in one day. I liked that the mesh is attached to the poles not with reinforcement (I saw this with neighbors, very ugly), but with a special galvanized tape. The Russian workers coped with the task perfectly. I was also pleased with the gift.

Proma Holding - well done. Thanks a lot. Everything went smoothly, from drawing up an estimate to carrying out the actual work on installing the fence made of Euro picket fence. I decided to do without calling a measurer. As a result, it took a little more posts and joists than I thought. The problem was resolved with one call to the office. Everything that was missing was quickly delivered. Thank you again, we will contact you again, as next year we plan to fence off our parents’ plot.

High-quality sheets, provided all documents. We didn’t have to go anywhere; we paid on the spot after the work was completed (our amount was not very large). We are very pleased and will recommend you to friends and neighbors.

Independent calculation of corrugated sheets for a fence

Stage 1. Materials

Before we begin, let's look at the materials. For installation, you need supports, crossbars, logs, gates, and wickets. Typically the poles are installed 2.5 meters apart. For a two-meter fence you will need two logs, from 2.2 m - three.

A little about corrugated sheeting: it comes in different types. We offer 3 options - inexpensive C8, rigid and more expensive C20 and C21. The cost also depends on whether the profiled sheet is painted, and if so, on one side or both. You can order any options from us.

Stage 2. Calculation of materials for a corrugated fence

1) Find out the length of the future fence. The length equals the perimeter, and the perimeter is the sum of the sides multiplied by two:

If the plot is a rectangle with sides 40 m and 30 m, then the perimeter will be equal to: (40 + 30) × 2 = 140 m.

Please note: the natural topography of the earth distorts remote calculations, and rarely does any area have a perfect rectangular shape. All numbers are a little arbitrary, although close to reality. For accurate information, order the services of a surveyor - a specialist will come and measure the territory for free.

2) We calculate how many sheets of corrugated board are needed for the fence. The easiest way is to divide the perimeter by the length of the sheet. Let's say you chose C8 standard length 1.15 m. We calculate:

140 / 1.15 = 121.7, rounded up - 122 pieces.

It's better to buy more than to make a mistake and not get enough.

3) We calculate the number of pillars. They are installed every 2.5 meters, so the perimeter must be divided by this interval:

140 / 2.5 = 56 pillars.

4) We calculate the number of lags. For a fence height of up to two meters, the perimeter simply needs to be multiplied by two. If its height is from 2.2 - by three.

The beams are welded to the support posts. The mechanism is as follows: pillars are dug into the ground to a depth of one and a half meters, crossbars are attached to them, everything is carefully primed with anti-corrosion compounds, then corrugated sheets are attached to the structure. Next - cosmetics: plastic plugs that hide the unaesthetic edges of the pillars and protruding screw heads.

140 × 2 = 280 m - the total length of the logs needed for our fence.

The standard log length is 3 m, although dimensions may vary. Then:

280 / 3 = 94 lags.

So, how many sheets of corrugated sheets are needed to fence an area of 30 × 40 m?

  • 122 sheets;
  • 56 pillars;
  • 94 lags.

Calculator - the easiest way to calculate!

Calculations can be done automatically using a calculator. Moreover, the system will provide an approximate budget - an ideal way to plan your expenses. The calculator has fields for gates and gates; it takes into account the cost of primer, screws, and the work of installation crews.

When building a fence from a metal profiled sheet, the first thing you want to know is how much the construction will cost. It is quite difficult to manually calculate the cost of a metal profile fence, but fortunately there are many construction sites where a special calculator will quickly and accurately calculate online how much it will cost to build a fence.

An example of a classic corrugated fence

Corrugated fences are very popular. Firstly, it attracts with a fairly low price compared to fences that use brick, stone or wood. Secondly, it is carried out in a short time and without the use of complex tools and mechanisms.

Corrugated sheets are sheets of metal cold bent on special machines.

The wavy surface is obtained by rolling and adds rigidity to the sheet. In this case, the material is not heated. The top of the sheet is covered with a protective layer of polymers, plastoisol or zinc.

Types of corrugated sheets

Profile marking

Corrugated sheeting also varies in sheet thickness, wave height and width. There are profiled sheets on the market with the following markings:

  1. C - wall metal profile used for fencing and wall cladding of buildings.
  2. N - load-bearing corrugated sheeting, it is used as a covering for roofs and ceilings.
  3. NS is a universal metal profile that has a wide range of applications, including for the construction of fences.

After the letter marking there is a digital value that indicates the height of the ribs, then the width of the profiled sheet and the thickness of the steel layer without taking into account the coating.

All types of marking of corrugated sheets

For the fence, the most suitable is corrugated sheeting marked C: the wave height used is up to 20 mm, the steel thickness is at least 0.7 mm.

Factors that determine the cost of corrugated sheet fencing

The final price for a metal profile fence depends on many conditions. The fact who will do the installation will have a strong impact on the cost. If you entrust the installation of the fence to specialized companies, the price per linear meter of fence will increase significantly. Self-installation may take a long time, but it will save significant money.
Often companies selling metal profiles offer their services for installing a fence and indicate the price per linear meter of corrugated sheeting. The price in this case includes laying the foundation, complete installation of the fence, installation of gates and wickets.
Depending on the type of foundation and supports, a corrugated fence can be installed at the following prices:

If you take on the task of installing a fence made of corrugated sheets with your own hands, you can easily handle both the calculations and the installation yourself.

Calculation of the cost of a fence made of metal profiles

A fence made of corrugated sheets consists of three main components: the foundation, the frame and the sheets of profiled metal themselves. This means that the cost amount must include the costs of all these components.

Foundation for a corrugated fence

The foundation for a fence made of corrugated sheets can be strip, columnar or strip-column.

The choice of foundation design is influenced by several conditions:

  • Soil type;
  • Depth of groundwater;
  • The abundance of rain and the likelihood of floods in the region;
  • Fence height.

There is no point in saving on materials for the foundation, and you should definitely take into account its type using a calculator for calculating the cost of corrugated sheet fencing.

Calculation of the cost of a fence from corrugated board

frame cost

To calculate the cost of a fence made of corrugated sheets, you need to take into account the cost of the frame, which consists of support posts and horizontal guides.
Or can act as supporting pillars. Also, brick and stone are often used for the base of pillars, and such a fence is already approaching an elite one and looks very solid and attractive. In terms of price, a fence with brick pillars will be correspondingly more expensive.

To correctly calculate the fence, you first need to mark the fenced area. To do this, each side of the perimeter is measured. Then, adding the length of each side, we get the total length of the entire fence. The number of corrugated sheets is calculated using the following formula:

  • n is the number;
  • L is the total length of the fence;
  • b is the width of one sheet.

If the width of the area is 20 m and the length is 40 m, the total length of the fence will be 120 meters. The sheet has a width of 1.4 m.

They need to be connected with an overlap.

Therefore, discarding 10 cm from each side, we take a width of 1.2 m. Substituting the numbers in the formula, we get:

  • 120/1.2 = 100 sheets.

This is exactly how much corrugated sheeting is needed to completely cover the entire perimeter. The height of the sheet is 2 m. The height of the profile itself (ridge) is 0.7 mm. It is best to mount them on a 4x6 mm profile pipe, which has a wall thickness of 2 mm. The pipes are installed at a distance of 2 meters from each other. For each of them, a hole 30-40 cm deep is dug. The pipe is inserted into the hole, and concrete is poured around it. That plane of it, which has 6 mm, should be fixed parallel to the perimeter line. Pipes are used as support pillars. Their height must match the height of the corrugated board.

Installation of a fence from profile sheets

After the support pillars are installed, transverse profile pipes are welded to them. The corrugated board is attached to them with self-tapping screws. Self-tapping screws press the corrugated board. In order for the sheets to hold firmly, it is necessary that one side is screwed with at least three self-tapping screws.

The corrugated sheeting for the fence is made in such a way that there is no more than 20 cm from the transverse logs to the edges of the corrugated sheet. In this case, the sheets will have sufficient rigidity and will be able to withstand a strong gust of wind. This measurement is a must. If you need to calculate the cost of corrugated sheeting, you need to take into account its coating. A simple galvanized corrugated sheet is the cheapest, having a polymer colored coating is 40% more expensive.

When installing support posts and cross beams, you must use a building level. Using a level, all parts must be installed in a strictly vertical and strictly horizontal position. There should be no tilts or distortions. This will provide the structure with greater strength and improve its appearance.

To build a fence from corrugated sheets, you need a tool such as:

  1. Welding machine.
  2. Bulgarian.
  3. Electric drill.
  4. Building level.
  5. Shovel.

To provide the tool with electricity, you need to carry a 220 V carrier to the work site. The corrugated sheet fencing is quite strong and durable. Due to the fact that galvanized material does not corrode, it can last more than forty years. The painted fence has a strict and solid appearance.
