GOST corrugated aluminum sheet. Aluminum corrugated sheets: types, application, GOST

Corrugated aluminum sheet, distinguished not only by the texture of its surface, on which convexities of a certain configuration are specially formed, but also by its low weight, has recently become increasingly popular. This material is actively used not only by construction organizations, but also by designers, using it to create structures for various purposes.

Standard requirements

Rolled aluminum sheets with a corrugated cross-section profile, as specified in GOST 21631-76, are produced in the form of rectangular-shaped products, on which protrusions are specially applied, located at an angle to each other and forming a specific pattern. Such protrusions, as well as the very low weight of sheet aluminum, are precisely the most significant features of such a material.

You can familiarize yourself with the GOST requirements for sheet aluminum by downloading the document in pdf format from the link below.

The projections formed on the surface of the aluminum sheet are called corrugations. The corrugated surface consists of groups of adjacent protrusions formed from varying numbers of corrugations. Thus, a sheet whose corrugated surface is formed from groups of protrusions, each of which contains five corrugations, is an aluminum sheet quintet, two corrugations are a duet, one is a diamond. It is not difficult to distinguish sheets with different types of corrugation; to do this, just look at the photo of the product.

GOST specifies the basic geometric parameters:

  • length of finished sheets – 200–600 cm;
  • width of sheet products – 100–150 cm;
  • thickness of rolled aluminum sheets – 1.5–4 mm (it should be borne in mind that this parameter does not include the height to which the corrugations rise above the sheet).

The weight of one linear meter of aluminum is calculated using a special formula. It is necessary to know the following geometric parameters of such a product: the maximum and minimum dimensions of the sheet in terms of its thickness and width and the density of the alloy from which such a sheet is made. The provisions of GOST provide the following method for determining the weight of one linear meter of corrugated rolled aluminum sheets of various types.

  • The largest and smallest values of sheet thickness are added together, and the total is divided by two.
  • The average sheet width is calculated by adding the minimum and maximum values of this parameter and dividing the resulting amount by two.
  • Then, to determine the average volume of one linear meter of corrugated aluminum sheet, the obtained values are multiplied.
  • The result of this multiplication must be multiplied by the density of the aluminum alloy from which the sheet in question is made, and then divided by 1000.

In the event that it is necessary to calculate the weight of corrugated aluminum sheets made from alloys of grades B95, B95-1 and B95-2, the formula takes into account the density of the material equal to 2.85 g/cm3. When calculating the mass of corrugated aluminum sheets from material of other grades, the following conversion factors are used:

  • 0.947 – for AB grade alloys;
  • 0.937 – AMg3;
  • 0.926 – AMg6;
  • 0.94 – AMg2;
  • 0.95 – AMg5;
  • 0.954–0.982 – D1, D12 and D16;
  • 0.97 – AKM;
  • 0.958 – AMts, AMtsS and MM;
  • 0,972 – 1915.
All of the above indicators of conversion factors are stipulated by the provisions of GOST 21631-76, the link to which is presented above.

The practicality of sheet aluminum, as a rule, is used for purely utilitarian purposes

Production methods

Aluminum sheets having a corrugated cross-section profile are produced using hot or cold rolling. In this case, corrugated sheets, the thickness of which is 3–4 mm, are made by hot rolling, and products with a smaller thickness are made using cold technology.

All such products, regardless of what type of corrugation needs to be applied to their surface, are produced according to the following technological scheme.

  • Quite massive ingots are made from aluminum alloy, weighing 2–3 tons.
  • Various preparatory operations are carried out with ingots.
  • The resulting billets are subjected to hot rolling, which can be followed by cold rolling if necessary.
  • Then the corrugated sheets are subjected to heat treatment and finishing operations, the technology of which depends mainly on what type of aluminum alloy was used for their manufacture.
An excellent, detailed video about all the nuances of the production of rolled aluminum sheets.

According to the technical specifications (TU), additional technological operations can be used for certain types of aluminum corrugated sheets. In particular, technical conditions have been specially developed for the production of aluminum sheets, on the surface of which “lentil” corrugation is applied. It is quite easy to determine the type of such corrugation even from a photo: its elements have a pronounced diamond-shaped configuration.

For the production of aluminum sheets with corrugation, the following grades of alloys of this metal are most often used: AMts and AMg. The preference of these alloys as a material for corrugated sheets is due to their high resistance to corrosion, which allows the successful use of products made from them in cases where they are exposed to high humidity and other aggressive environments.

Additional advantages of using aluminum alloys belonging to the AMts category are:

  • good ductility, which greatly facilitates the processing of such materials by plastic deformation methods;
  • good weldability ensured by the use of aluminum electrodes;
  • light weight;
  • decent mechanical characteristics.
Meanwhile, it should be borne in mind that aluminum alloys containing manganese cannot be subjected to heat treatment, which could improve their mechanical properties. Products made from these alloys are subjected to a technological operation such as cold hardening, which, although it reduces the plasticity of the material, can significantly increase its hardness.

Areas of application

The high popularity of aluminum sheets with various types of corrugation is explained by a whole list of their characteristics. This should include:

  • attractive appearance, which you can pay attention to even when viewing photos of such products;
  • exceptionally high resistance to the formation and development of corrosion processes;
  • low weight per m2;
  • exceptional anti-slip properties due to high roughness;
  • high environmental safety (aluminum does not emit any harmful impurities into the atmosphere);
  • long period of operation without loss of original characteristics;
  • ability to operate even in the most difficult conditions.

Due to the qualities of corrugated aluminum sheets, such as high roughness and immunity to negative environmental factors, they are actively used in the production of sea and river vessels. Such sheets cover the surfaces on which crew members and passengers move, as well as the floors of ship premises in which cargo is transported.

The automotive industry is another area in which corrugated sheets made from aluminum have found wide application. They are, in particular, used for arranging floors and steps of public transport, which are used in difficult conditions and must provide an anti-slip effect in all situations. Due to the exceptional decorative properties of corrugated aluminum, it is used in the original tuning of minibuses and SUVs; with the help of such sheets, the hoods and sides of cars operating in difficult conditions are strengthened.

Aluminum “corrugation” is a favorite material for tuning among car enthusiasts

This material can be used equally successfully both indoors and outdoors, so it is actively used in the construction industry. Thus, corrugated aluminum sheets are used for:

  • finishing the facades of buildings and structures for various purposes;
  • arrangement of underground passages, stairs and bridges, the working surfaces of which must have an anti-slip effect;
  • installation of road barriers;
  • making billboards.

The exceptional decorative characteristics of corrugated sheets made of aluminum allow modern designers to actively use them to design elements such as:

  • internal columns;
  • wall partitions;
  • dropped ceilings;
  • heating radiator screens.

Using corrugated aluminum sheets, modern interiors are designed in high-tech, minimalism, loft, techno and avant-garde styles.

Sheet AD1M- a flat-rolled product with a rectangular cross-section and a corrugated surface. Complies with GOST 21631. Sheets are divided into several groups:

  • by manufacturing method - unclad, clad (B), with normal plating (A), with thickened plating (U);
  • according to the condition of the material - without heat treatment, annealed (M), ½ cold-worked (H2), cold-worked (N), hardened and naturally aged (T), hardened and artificially aged (T1), cold-worked after hardening and natural aging (TN);
  • according to the quality of surface finishing - ordinary, high (H) and enhanced (P) finish.

The pattern of corrugated aluminum sheets differs in the number and shape of the corrugations, which is reflected in the name of the sheets:

  • lentils - one riffle. This group also includes a diamond - also one groove, but reminiscent of a diamond facet;
  • duet - two riffles;
  • quintet - five riffles.

Aluminum sheet 0.5 mm can be made of aluminum wrought alloy, technical and primary aluminum. The material is selected depending on the purpose of the product and the requirements placed on it.

Primary aluminum complies with GOST 11069-2001. Brands are divided into two groups based on the content of the main substance:

  • high purity aluminum. The number in the brand after the letter “A” indicates the percentage of aluminum: A99.5, A99, A98, A97, A95;
  • aluminum of technical purity. All grades contain 99% aluminum, and the number after the letter “A” indicates tenths. For example, grade A85 contains 99.85% aluminum.

Technical aluminum complies with GOST 4784-97. Produced by electrolysis of cryolite-alumina melts. The difference between brands is the content of the main substance:

  • AD - 98.8% Al;
  • AD0 - 99.5% Al;
  • AD00 - 99.7% Al;
  • AD000 - 99.8% Al;
  • AD00E - 99.7% Al;
  • AD0E - 99.5% Al;
  • AD1 - 99.3% Al;
  • ADoch - 99.98% Al;
  • ADS - 99% Al;
  • ADC - 99.95% Al.

Aluminum wrought alloy complies with GOST 4784-97, serves as a material for the production of products with various types of pressure treatment. This includes pressing, rolling, stamping, forging, extrusion, etc. Alloying additives give the alloys ductility and good workability under pressure.

Wrought aluminum alloys are divided into 2 groups:

  1. alloys strengthened by heat treatment;
  2. alloys that cannot be strengthened by heat treatment.

Aluminum, when alloyed with alloying components, forms binary systems with variable solubility. Such systems can be strengthened by hardening and aging. Dual alloys, for example, aluminum - silicon, aluminum - copper, show less effect from heat treatment than ternary and more complex systems. Hence the wider use of complex aluminum alloys, for example, Al - Zn - Mg.

Marking of aluminum alloys:

  • A - aluminum;
  • D - duralumin;
  • AK - aluminum alloy, malleable;
  • AB - avial;
  • B - high-strength aluminum alloy;
  • AL - cast aluminum alloy;
  • AMg - aluminum-magnesium alloy;
  • AMts - aluminum-manganese alloy;
  • SAP - sintered aluminum powders;
  • SAS - sintered aluminum alloys.

Materials and processing technologies

For the production of rolled sheets, alloys A0, A5-A7, AD00, AD0, AD1, AD, B95-1, B95-2, AKM and all grades of aluminum are used, the chemical composition of which is standardized by GOST 44784-74.

Rolled products are supplied with a glossy or matte surface, with plating and without anti-corrosion coating. For cladding, technical aluminum alloys are used, the content of the main component in which is not lower than 99.3%. The thickness of the protective layer depends on the thickness of the sheet and the type of cladding.

Rolled sheets are supplied for sale without additional processing, heat-treated or subjected to thermoplastic hardening. Final processing is used to improve the mechanical properties of rolled products and produce products with specified characteristics.

Annealed sheets become soft and flexible and bend well. Hardening makes sheet aluminum hard and increases the strength of the metal. Cold hardening changes the density of the metal structure, making it denser. Heat-strengthened sheets have increased wear resistance and resistance to friction.

Properties and scope

Corrugated sheet has all the advantages of aluminum products. The main ones are:

  • Ease. The average density of aluminum alloys is 2700-2850 kg/m3. The weight of sheets made of Al and alloys based on it is 2-3 times less than similar products made of other metals.
  • Electrical and thermal conductivity. The electrical conductivity of rolled aluminum is at least 60% of the electrical conductivity of copper. At the same time, it has high reflective ability and good thermal conductivity - 203.5 W/(m*K).
  • Corrosion resistance. The cladding, made of aluminum sheet, retains its original appearance during prolonged exposure to moisture, acidic and alkaline environments, vegetable and mineral oils, and petroleum products.
  • Heat resistance. Products made from Al alloys retain their properties at high and low temperatures. Rolled sheets can be used indoors and outdoors at temperatures from -50°C to +50°C.
  • Manufacturability. Rolled products have plasticity and lend themselves well to cutting, bending, and drilling.
  • Long working life. The service life of aluminum products, depending on operating conditions, is 30-50 years.

Ribbons are applied to the surface of the products by pressure treatment, forming a pattern - “quintet”, “diamond”, “duet”. Thanks to the corrugated surface, the sheets acquire an aesthetic appearance and anti-slip properties.

The combination of excellent performance characteristics makes aluminum sheet with a corrugated surface indispensable in construction, shipbuilding, and all branches of mechanical engineering. It is used to create non-slip and decorative coatings, cladding structures, thresholds, footboards, floors in public transport, steps, flight stairs, maintenance areas for industrial equipment, flooring in work shops, internal lining of refrigeration units and refrigerators.

Characteristics

Silver-white metal, resistant to corrosion, low density, ductile. The metal quickly oxidizes in air and becomes covered with an oxide film of Al2O3, which protects the product from rust. When in contact with food, the metal retains neutral properties and is resistant to most acids of organic origin, even concentrated nitric acid.

Aluminum alloys are divided into wrought and cast:

  • Wrought aluminum alloys are produced by hot-rolling
  • Cast aluminum alloys are used for castings

Sheets are divided into heat-strengthened and pressure-strengthened. The most commonly used classification is based on the characteristics of the alloys.

Heat-strengthening alloys

  • AK4, AK4–1, D20 and 1201 - heat-resistant alloys
  • B93 and B95 - high-strength alloys
  • AD33, AD31 and AD35 - medium strength alloys, alloyed with: aluminum, magnesium and silicon
  • 1925 and 1915 - alloys are welded to a standard strength rating
  • D16, D1 and D18 - alloys of normal strength, like duralumin, alloyed with: aluminum, copper and magnesium
  • AK8 and AK6 - forging aluminum alloys

Non-heat-strengthening alloys

  • AMg1, AMg6, AMg2 - alloy, medium strength, called Magnalium
  • D12 and AMts - an alloy with reduced strength, alloyed with aluminum and magnesium
  • AD1 and AD0 - technical aluminum alloys, not alloyed

Increased corrosion resistance to the environment and performance indicators are achieved by spraying additional elements onto the surface of the sheet. Treatment increases the service life of products. An increase in resistance to mechanical loads is achieved by hardening aluminum. Annealing calms the aluminum structure for further processing.

Manufacturing method - pressing by cold and hot deformation. Pressing is also used, which takes place in several stages. The starting material is prepared in a special furnace using heat treatment, followed by rolling to the required dimensions. The function of the pressing mill is to force aluminum into the holes in the mill matrix. Subsequently, the sheets undergo cleaning and plating. The method is based on applying additional elements to the surface of the sheet, such as zinc, silicon, titanium and magnesium. Cladding of sheets increases the corrosion resistance of products. Additional processing - hardening (hardening).

The final product, free of tears, bubbles, cracks and corrosion marks, is divided into:

  • Clad sheets (thick and normal) and unclad
  • Hardened sheet, hardened, naturally or artificially aged
  • Sheet without heat treatment
  • Annealed sheet
  • Semi-hardened sheets
  • Hard-worked, hardened, natural aging

Additionally, the sheets are classified according to manufacturing accuracy. Normal accuracy according to basic indicators: length, width, thickness. Sheets are manufactured in accordance with GOST 21631–76 of four types:

  • Acid resistant sheet- AMG grades (2, 3, 5 and 6), which are alloyed with manganese and magnesium.
  • Technical sheet- used as a finishing and insulating material.
  • Perforated sheets- intended for the construction field: air duct grilles, decorative interior details, such as reinforcing plasterboard corners of structures. Perforation occurs on coordinate-punching presses and is divided into: rectangular, round or diamond-shaped holes.
  • Food sheets- A5M, A5N2 and A5N, and primary aluminum A7 or AD0, without heat treatment. Sheets are highly hygienic and contain no impurities or alloying elements.

Sheet thickness: thin aluminum sheet 0.3 mm - 2 mm Aluminum plate 10.5 mm thick, width from 500 mm to 2000 mm, length from 2000 to 7200 mm

Corrugated and anodized sheets for special purposes.

  • Corrugated sheets (profiled)- the flexibility of the sheets allows you to work on roofs with complex designs and shapes.
  • Anodized Sheets- matte, mirror and semi-matte. Anodizing of sheets occurs using a simple electrochemical procedure, the formation of an oxide protective film of a crystalline structure on the aluminum surface.

Corrugated Sheets

When covering special equipment and in industrial premises, aluminum alloys are used: AMG2N2, AMG2NR, 1105ANR, AMG3N2. Popular sheet sizes are 1200x3000 and 1500x3000 mm. We also produce sheets of other sizes, for example: 1250x2500 mm, 1200x4000 mm, 1500x3500 mm. and 1500x4000 mm. If necessary, the length of the sheets reaches 7200 mm.

Sheets are easy to process due to their elasticity, which is several times higher than, for example, steel or cast iron. The sheets can be easily bent at different angles, shapes of arbitrary sizes can be cut out of them, this is necessary for sheathing frames of complex shapes. Some types of corrugated aluminum alloys can be easily welded. Ribbons increase the rigidity coefficient; the thinnest sheet can easily support a person’s weight. Due to the uniform distribution of the load over most of the surface.

In industrial premises where there is an increased risk of fire, a corrugated quintet sheet is used. Rolled steel does not spark when exposed to metal objects and some types of stone. Increased resistance to corrosion allows the use of rolled steel in production with caustic chemicals.

Similar products are produced abroad under the name Galaxy, which also has five riffles. Products are brought to Russia mainly from Serbia. Domestic products are cheaper, but the characteristics do not differ. With a strong and sudden mechanical impact, or prolonged pressure on one area, the sheets are deformed. In cases where increased strength is needed, sheets up to 10 mm are used. In this case, the advantage in weight to strength of rolled steel is lost.

The material is passed through rolling mills, where the aluminum passes through rows of paired cylindrical shafts. On special crimping shafts using the hot rolling method, ribbed patterns are stamped. Excessive stress in the metal is reduced through heat treatment. Next, the rolled product undergoes grinding, which removes the smallest flaws, and is cut to the dimensions required by the customer.

The sheets are used for covering mechanisms in vehicles. In factories, sheets are sheathed on the steps of stairs, bridges near machines and production lines. The corrugated surface increases the grip of employees' shoes on the surface, and reduces the risk of tripping or slipping. These measures improve work safety and reduce work-related injuries.

Quintet sheets are used to cover refrigerators and freezers. When moving products using carts or manually by staff, the grooved surface improves traction on staff's shoes and cart wheels. Industrial enterprises produce boats with decks made of corrugated aluminum. The material is used to cover floors and walls in cargo and technical rooms of ships and aircraft; on ships, engine rooms and holds are finished with a quintet.

Corrugated aluminum is used for tuning trucks and cars; the sheet covers hoods and side steps on trucks. Also, the corrugated floor surface is used in public transport, directly in winter, when people entering have their shoes covered in snow.

Coatings with grooves are also used in everyday life. Designers use sheets to add style to a room. The sheets are used for covering walls and staircase steps. It will look natural on a spiral staircase, the steps of which are held in place by metal strings and rods. Hi-tech style bunkers cover the floors of the second level with corrugated sheets, it looks like the second floor is not a full floor, but a mezzanine studio. The decorative characteristics of corrugated aluminum sheets are suitable for interior decoration of columns and partitions, suspended ceilings, radiator screens.

Corrugated aluminum sheet, popular in Moscow, is produced in accordance with GOST 21631-76. Most often, alloys of the AMts and AMn brands are used for the manufacture of these products. They are distinguished by a high manganese content (up to 1.5%) and the presence of other alloying metals (copper, iron, zinc, magnesium). The result is a corrosion-resistant material.

Types of products

The industry produces three main types of corrugated aluminum.

  1. Diamond. Sheets in which each groove is located at right angles to the two closest ones.
  2. Duet. Combination of groups of two protrusions.
  3. Quintet. There are five riffles in one group.

The shape of the riffles themselves can be different: diamond-shaped, “lentil”.

The LiquidStal Moscow company supplies aluminum corrugated sheets to Moscow, as well as anywhere in the Russian Federation.

Dimensions

In accordance with the standard, “corrugated tape” is available in the following standard sizes:

  • the thickness of the sheet base is 1.5-4 mm (the height of the corrugation is not taken into account);
  • length ranges from 2 to 6 m;
  • width 1-1.5 m.

Production technology

Rolled products are produced cold and hot. Cold technology is used for sheets whose thickness is less than 3 mm. The weight of the initial workpiece can reach 2-3 tons. After repeated hot rolling, a thin sheet is obtained, on which the corrugations are subsequently extruded.
Depending on the alloy used, the resulting products are subjected to finishing thermal and mechanical treatment.

Scope of application

Due to its resistance to corrosion and anti-slip properties, corrugated aluminum is used as flooring in buses, carriages, ships, in passages and entrance areas, factory workshops, service stations, and on bridges.

Moscow orders significant wholesale quantities for construction and design purposes. The products are distinguished by their visual appeal, therefore they are widely used to decorate the basement sections of buildings, columns, and other structures. They are convenient for finishing heating radiators due to the high thermal conductivity of the metal.
