Cooking oatmeal

    Measure out a portion of oatmeal. Traditionally, “rolled” grains are used to produce oatmeal. Luckily, you can use instant oats or steel cut oats for your purposes - the only difference will be the size of the grains, which you will still be grinding.

Be sure to wash your grinder first, otherwise you may end up with coffee-flavored flour. Grind the oats for 30 seconds or until they turn into flour.     • Don't have a blender? There are many ways to make flour by hand, but it will take much longer. You can use for this:
    • Meat grinder: Place a sharp knife and chop the oats by rocking the handle back and forth. The resulting fraction will be slightly larger than regular flour, but this is not a problem.
    • Grind: Using a mortar and pestle, grind the oats into a powder.
